Keno was created in 200 BC by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a way to finance his failing army. The metropolis of Cheung was waging a battle, and after awhile of war time seemed to be looking at a country wide shortage of food with the drastic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to create a fast fix for the economic calamity and to produce money for his forces. He thusly developed the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno used to be known as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were broadcast by pigeons from larger locations to the tinier towns. The lottery ‘Keno’ was brought to the US in the 19th century by Chinese newcomers who headed to the States for jobs. In those times, Keno used one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is generally enjoyed with just 80 numbers in almost all of the US land based casinos along with online casinos. Keno is largely liked today because of the relaxed nature of playing the game and the basic fact that there are no expertise required to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the odds of winning are terrible, there is always the possibility that you could win quite large with very little gaming investment.

Keno is enjoyed with eighty numbers with twenty numbers selected each game. Enthusiasts of Keno can pick from two to ten numbers and wager on them, whatever amount they want to. The payout of Keno is according to the wagers made and the roll out of matching numbers.

Keno grew in popularity in the US near the end of the 19th century when the Chinese letters were replaced with more familiar, American numbers. Lottos were not covered under the legalization of gaming in the state of Nevada in Nineteen Thirty One. The casinos changed the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the concept that the numbers are horses and you are looking for your horses to place. When a law passed that levied a tax on off track betting, the casinos swiftly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
